A modern detached villa, with tiled floors throughout and equipped to a high standard, in a quiet location just a few minutes’ walk from the centre of Le Pouget, which is about 35 km west of Montpellier and 30 km from the Mediterranean. Nearest towns: Clermont l’Herault, Gignac. A wood-burning fire and radiators in all rooms make this ideal for winter breaks.

The Accommodation

Spacious living room; fitted kitchen; fully tiled bathroom with separate shower; second loo; two double-bedded rooms, third twin-bedded room/office equipped for PC use; garage and car port for problem-free parking There is a south-facing terrace with sunblind for al fresco eating off the living room and a second small terrace.

Facilities include washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, music centre, BBC satellite TV/radio, video, phone/fax.

The mature, secluded garden is automatically watered, and features a small pond and barbecue.

The Village

Le Pouget is an historic “circulade” village situated on a hill with lovely views all around. It has shops selling all basic essentials, plus doctor, dentist, bank, tennis courts, restaurant and bar. There are several marked-out walks – e.g. to a prehistoric dolmen and to the vestiges of the medieval village of St Amans. Excellent bird-watching country. Good mountain-biking all around the area.

The Area

A wide diversity of scenery can be found within a short distance of Le Pouget. To the south are the Mediterranean beaches, and to the north the dramatic landscape of the hills. There is plenty of scope for outdoor activities, as well as a variety of sites to visit. The local wine is very drinkable and good-value restaurants abound, from seafood specialists at the Bassin de Thau to “fermes auberges” in the hills. The River Herault (swimming, fishing) is 2km away, and Lake Salagou (sailing, swimming, fishing, mountain bike) around 12 km.
